Bedarra Island is a romantic rainforest retreat, an exclusive private hideaway where a fortunate few can savour the finer things in life. It's all here for your indulgence, from luxurious accommodation and mouth-watering cuisine to Bollinger champagne. There are many ways to
fill the day but a beach picnic comes highly recommended. You set off by boat with a hamper fit for royalty to discover one of the many secluded bays. Bedarra often has more beaches then guests, so your privacy is assured. Set your own agenda at Bedarra Island Resort.
When you simply don't wish to be found, when you need to escape, unwind and experience the finer things in life, there is no better place to disappear to than Bedarra Island. This is Australia’s most exclusive resort, an
indulgent tropical private haven, lying off the coast of Cairns.
Beautiful, natural and wild, the most northern Great Barrier Reef resort, Lizard Island is a place reserved for
the fortunate few.
Consistently ranked as one of the top hotels of the world for more than a decade, Lizard Island offers the natural beauty of the Great Barrier Reef, uninterrupted by the rest of the world. Our 24 white sand beaches lie undisturbed but for the occasional footprints.
Bedarra Resort provides quality accommodation and professional services to all travellers. Some of the famous attractions are Paronella Park, Artropica Innisfail Studio Gallery and Clump Mountain National Park.
Bedarra Resort is located 4 kilometres off the Tropical North Queensland coast, midway between Townsville and Cairns with easy access to Bedarra via Dunk Island. Guests can visit the city's points of interests such as Calypso Adventures, Old Town State Historic Park and La Jolla Cove Beach.
All the rooms at Bedarra Resort are well-appointed with modern amenities such as air conditioner, satellite TV, telephone and a hairdryer for guests' convenience.
There is something really romantic about being on a secluded island, just the two of you, with the charm of the original beach hut that artist Noel Wood used as his winter home has been lovingly restored and updated keeping with the original design. It has an open plan kitchen that features a fridge/freezer, gas cook top and gas oven, large bench space and the best part is the views! The queen size bedroom has a flat screen LCD, cable and dvd player and library.
There's not that much to do on Bedarra Island, which is precisely why it is such a relaxing getaway. There's a
tennis court that nobody uses, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards, and dinghies that guests can use to putter over to one of the nearby islands to enjoy a picnic lunch on a deserted beach.
Bedarra is not for everyone. If you're planning to party, or if you have a family, you'll give it a miss (children
under 16 are not allowed). Likewise if you're worried about getting your feet wet: the water taxi is a wet landing on both shores, so you're best off wearing shorts or a short skirt and shoes you can slip off.
If what you're really keen on, however, is an escape - away from the crowds, in a stunning setting, with the time and the freedom to do absolutely nothing - then Bedarra will bliss you out.
East Bedarra Island Retreat are proud winners of 2006 TTNQ Tourism awards for Most Unique Accommodation and Runners-up in the Qld Tourism Awards for the Steve Erwin Eco Tourism Award.
